Acne patches are officially a thing. One, I admit, I did not find. Why would you apply these weird things to your pimples when just exfoliating with salicylic acid and adding azelaic acid or other anti-aging actives will do the trick? Besides, it’s very strange to have strange patches on your skin, wouldn’t people notice then? And yet I was googling Averel Acne Cover Patch reviews after hearing that it was an Allure-approved hydrocolloid patch. Obviously, they are a sensible way to do things. Do they deliver? Are acne scars something you should include in your daily routine? I am telling all the things in this review. let’s get started:

Key Ingredients in Averel Acne Cover Patches: What Does It Do?

    hydrocolloid

Hydrocolloid is the material that the patch is made of. They are polymers that absorb fluid (such as pus or oil from a pimple) from the surface of your skin and trap it inside the patch in gel form. They have been used for centuries in wound care, to moisturize the skin, and to aid healing. With acne spots, they do something similar, but for acne. Here’s what happens when you slap someone on a zit:

    • It absorbs fluid: All the pus and oil gets absorbed into the gel, which can flatten the bump and make it less angry.
    • This creates a moist healing environment, which your skin actually likes more than drying out and leads to faster healing.
    • It acts as a protective barrier, keeping you from getting cut and making the wound worse.

I found a randomized, double-blind trial that tested hydrocolloid “acne dressings” in 20 patients with mild to moderate acne. Patients applied the patch every two days for a week. Result? The acne dressing group had a larger reduction in overall acne severity compared to the control skin tape. Redness, oiliness, dark pigmentation and sebum levels improved significantly with the hydrocolloid patches. All this without any significant adverse effects. The study concluded that hydrocolloid patches can improve mild to moderate inflammatory acne in just a few days, although the sample size was small and long-term studies are needed.

My Concern: Acne patches use a mild adhesive to stick to your skin. When you remove this adhesive, it may cause irritation to sensitive skin. be careful!

Connected: Do Korean acne patches work?

    tea tree leaf oil

Tea tree oil comes from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia and fights the visible symptoms of acne in two ways:

    • Antibacterial: It can reduce Cutibacterium acnes (formerly known as P. acnes), a bacteria that causes pimples.
    • Anti-inflammatory: It can soothe the redness and swelling of inflamed wounds.

Clinical studies show that 5% tea tree oil gel can significantly reduce both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne lesions. One test found it was about as effective as 5% benzoyl peroxideBut slower to act – patients reported less dryness and irritation than benzoyl peroxide.

In a patch, the concentration of tea tree oil is probably much less than 5%, so it may only gradually soothe the irritation rather than eliminate the bacteria. Oh, and while everyone thinks of natural ingredients as harmless, it can actually cause irritation or cause allergies, especially if it’s oxidized or you have sensitive skin.

    Calendula Officinalis Flower Oil

Calendula oil comes from Calendula officinalis flowers and is rich in flavonoids, triterpenes, and carotenoids. Basically it is a botanical anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. In laboratory and animal studies, calendula may reduce signs of inflammation in skin cells and improve some markers of healing. Here’s the problem: There’s no strong clinical evidence that calendula itself treats acne. It also soothes inflammation, which is one of the root causes of acne. side effects? Allergic reactions are possible, especially if you are sensitive to chamomile-family plants (Asteraceae).

    madescassic acid

Madesic acid is one of the active triterpenoids in Centella asiatica (aka Cica). It is a wound healing winner in laboratory studies. It works by stimulating fibroblasts and collagen, allowing faster skin repair and reducing inflammation by calming overactive immune signals in the skin. It’s the latter that makes it good at preventing acne (acne is an inflammatory disease, remember?).

    texture

When I removed one of these hydrocolloid acne patches from the backing, it felt slightly rubbery and smooth, like a very thin strip rather than a sticker. On my skin it didn’t feel rough or sticky – more like a soft shield. The surface is not overly smooth, and once it sticks down it almost becomes part of the skin surface rather than feeling like a foreign object. I noticed that because it’s thinner than some other pimple patches, so even if you smile or move around a lot, it doesn’t stick out much.

    Fragrance

These Averel patches do not have any noticeable perfume smell. If you smelled it closely there would probably be a slight herbal hint, but on the face I hardly noticed anything. I did not detect any artificial smell at all. Great, because fragrance is a common irritant — and that’s the last thing acne-prone skin needs.

    How to use it

I would start by washing and completely drying the affected area where I wanted to apply it – no lotion, no oil, no nothing. Press the patch gently but firmly onto the stain and then forget about it for a while. Most people talk about keeping them on overnight or for at least six hours. At the end of that time, when you peel it off, sometimes you’ll actually see fluid or “trash” accumulated on the surface of the patch, which always feels weird but oddly satisfying. If the patch lifts or gets dirty, you can replace it with a fresh one.

    packaging

The box comes with different sizes (three to be exact), which is convenient since not every grain is the same size. They’re arranged in a simple blister-style sheet that lets you peel them off one by one. Nothing fancy, but the size keeps things versatile. I liked to keep smaller ones for small spots and larger ones for bruised or swollen areas.

    Performance and personal opinion

Just so we’re all on the same page, I tested out Averel Cover Patch Original. Most other Averelle acne patches have the same exact formula, just different shapes and sizes for hard-to-reach or larger blemish areas. On pimples with raised heads, these zit stickers work exactly as they should. Within a single night the bump shrank markedly and the redness became less intense. The patch seems protective, and after a few hours the area definitely looks calmer. Tea

Hey, there’s less drama on lumps, deeper under the skin, that haven’t healed yet (which still need time or a different approach), but still, wearing the patch saved me from having to poke at them. Adhesion to clean, dry skin is solid, although there were one or two sticks when my face was a little oily. But, they do not think about the real cause of acne and prevent it from recurring. So I can use them in a pinch, but I wouldn’t replace my acne actives with them. Still use your salicylic acid ladies!

What I like about Everell Acne Cover Patches Original

    • The size of the scarred lump has decreased markedly
    • The good range of sizes meant I rarely struggled to completely cover any annoying pimples.
    • Translucent and thin enough so it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a big white sticker.
    • No strong fragrance – does not irritate sensitive skin.
    • Helps prevent picking – This alone is a huge benefit when breakouts are annoying.
    • Available in different sizes, so I can cover even large areas easily.

What I don’t like about Averel Acne Cover Patches Original

    • Not reliable for deep, unblemished pimples – on those, it mostly just stays there.
    • May be noticeable if you wear them in daylight – especially the larger ones.
    • May leave a slight mark after several days of continuous use.
    • Viscosity is not infallible in areas with excess oil – sometimes adjustment is required.
    • Removal may cause irritation to sensitive skin types

    Who should use it?

If you have superficial blemishes on your head, these should be kept to yourself. They are especially useful if you pop pimples or want a simple overnight remedy that visibly soothes inflammation. If most of your breakouts are deep cystic acne with no white spots, don’t worry. Overall, I’d say it’s better for occasional breakouts than your main acne treatment.

Does Averel Acne Cover Patch live up to its claims?

    Claim Truth?
Replaces invasive, irritating treatments and helps heal and eliminate blemishes. To some extent this is true. But I would say the same about salicylic acid, and I would like to use that, know what I mean? And for best results, I would still prefer to use salicylic acid or azelaic acid that actually tackles the root cause or acne and not just improves the visible signs of it.
With our advanced hydrocolloid technology the Averel Acne Patch reduces the size of your blemishes or even draws out the dirt from them! Truth.

    Verdict: Should you buy it?

Honestly, if you’re like me and prefer active treatments that actually target acne (like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or retinoids) then these Averel pimple patches feel more like a temporary cover than a solution. They may help soothe small whiteheads or keep you from picking, but they won’t do much for deeper or frequent breakouts. I’d say they’re fine in a pinch, but if you want results that really make a difference over time, investing in proven actives will benefit you far more than sticking a patch on.
