ShopRite is offering a free starter kit to customers who start taking GLP-1 medications for weight management, the grocer announced Monday.
Wellness Your Way Starter Kits will be available for a limited time to customers filling their first GLP-1 prescription at ShopRite Pharmacy, while supplies last.
The kit includes product samples, coupons, and a printed wellness guide with nutritional information. According to the company, the guide includes recommendations from a registered dietitian on protein intake, hydration and lifestyle changes, as well as tips for grocery shopping and recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Samples in the kit include Oikos Protein Shake, Liquid IV Hydration Multiplier, and Vital Proteins Collagen Powder. Coupons include for items like Prey Brands Lean Beef, Healthy Choice Frozen Meals and The Fruitist Company Blueberries.
“We’ve seen an increasing number of customers seeking GLP-1 medications, and we want to make sure they feel supported from the moment they fill the first prescription,” said Aaron Sapp, vice president of pharmacy and wellness for Wakefern Food Corp., the retailer-owned cooperative that operates ShopRite supermarkets and pharmacies.
GLP-1 drugs are commonly prescribed for weight management and treatment of diabetes. Supermarket pharmacies, which operate within grocery stores, combine prescription services with access to food and nutrition products.
Starter kits are available at ShopRite Pharmacy locations. Additional information is available on the company’s website.
Buyers taking GLP-1 drugs will charge more purchasing power Over the next few years, according to research from Chicago-based marketing firm Circana LLC.
The new findings show that households using these drugs – currently 23% – are projected to account for 35% of all food and beverage units sold by 2030.
