This Laser Treatment Gave My 47-Year-Old Skin Its Glow Back
[ad_1]
As a beauty editor, Iβve tried all the treatments. I know whatβs trending, what works and whatβs just noise. So, when I walked into Von & Co in Naples, FL, I had a few ideas about what my skin needed. But what I got was so much better.
At 47, my skin has seen some thingsβsun, stress and now the hormonal shifts that come with perimenopause. Iβve noticed more dullness, melasma that flares up no matter how careful I am with SPF and that kind of lackluster look to my skin that no amount of serum can fix. I booked my consultation assuming Iβd walk out with one laser treatment or peel recommendation. Instead, I walked out with a completely customized plan, combining two popular treatments, and my skin hasnβt looked this good in years.
My Skin Age:
The consultation started with a VISIA skin analysis. If youβve never done one, imagine a brutally honest selfie that tells you everything happening beneath the surface. Texture, brown spots, wrinkles, itβs all there. My βskin ageβ was revealed as being in the 30s, which gave me clarity. My skin is great, but from my perspective it could use some help in the pigment department.

Thatβs when I met with Naples, FL dermatologist Brandon Kirsch, MD, medical director of Von & Co. βCombination treatments are often where we see the best results,β Kirsch said. βBecause the skin ages in multiple ways, it makes sense to approach it with multiple strategies.β
What Is a βBetter Togetherβ Treatment?
Dr. Kirsch and the Von & Co team recommended βBetter Together,β a customized pairing of BBL (BroadBand Light) and Moxi laser. If youβve read up on either, you know theyβre both noninvasive powerhouses. BBL targets pigmentation and redness by delivering pulses of light to the skin, helping fade sun damage and discoloration. Moxi, on the other hand, is a fractionated laser that creates micro-injuries to stimulate collagen and resurface texture.
Used together, theyβre a dream team. BBL clears the visible damage, while Moxi goes deeper to refresh and rebuild. And because theyβre both gentle, they can be done in the same session with minimal downtime. βThey complement each other beautifully,β Dr. Kirsch explained. βBBL works like a reset button for the surface and Moxi sets the stage for long-term improvement.β
The Experience:

The treatment itself was quick and surprisingly tolerable. The BBL felt like little snaps of warmth across my cheeks and forehead. Moxi came next, and while I wouldnβt call it relaxing, it wasnβt painful, just a light, prickly heat as the laser moved across my face. The entire appointment was less than an hour.
Afterward, my skin felt warm and looked a little flushed, like Iβd had a solid workout. Over the next few days, I had some dryness and whatβs often described as a βsandpaperβ texture, which is normal. I wore sunscreen religiously, followed my post-treatment skin care and didnβt need any downtime beyond swapping foundation for tinted SPF.
My Results:

By day five, my skin looked smoother. The dark patches on my cheeks had started to fade. A week later, I noticed something else: radiance. That βlit-from-withinβ look thatβs hard to fake with makeup. Friends asked if Iβd changed my routine. I hadnβt, I just had better skin.
Several weeks post-treatment my glow continued to improve. My dark spots were lighter, my skin tone more even and that βblahβ look I couldnβt shake was lifted. Iβve had great treatments before, but this combo is one Iβd recommend to anyone in their 30s and beyond, especially if youβre seeing the signs of hormonal skin changes or sun damage that has finally caught up with you.
