Gigi Hadid’s Stylist Says the Barbie Bob Is the Top Cut This Fall

Hair whisperer to the stars, Dimitris Giannetos is constantly on the cutting edge of hair trends. From iconic color creations like Amal Clooney’s pecan pie brunette to award show bombshell styles like Demi Moore’s timeless Oscars look. So, when he declared that one bob haircut would rule them all this fall, we sat up straight and started taking notes!

Introducing the Barbie Bob

It’s been a big year for bobs, so it’s no surprise to see a variation on the style in the top spot for fall haircut trends. That said, Giannetos’ Barbie Bob is different from the style that’s been trending throughout the year. The Barbie Bob is a more structural, sculpted look.

“Everybody wants to look pretty,” Giannetos says on the “Breaking Beauty” podcast. “And this bob has a little more elegance.” According to him, the Barbie name comes from the volume, giving ’90s blowout with a more intentionally sculpted twist.

According to Giannetos, the Barbie Bob isn’t complete without that honeyed blonde shade. “The color is very important,” he says on the podcast. Along with the structure, which he creates by twisting a round brush through the hair during a blowout, that golden blonde helps communicate the “pretty” and feminine aspects of the look.

Of course, as “Breaking Beauty” host Carlene Higgins points out, his Barbie Bob muse, Gigi Hadid, has recently had several shade iterations of this retro-looking style. From pastel pink to “silver tequila,” Hadid’s different styles prove how even small color changes can make a major impact.
