Ciara Talks Creatine, Self-Care and the Power of a Haircut

Launching today, science-backed health and wellness brand Thorne introduces a new campaign aimed at reframing the conversation around creatine, long associated with weightlifters and elite athletes. The initiative, fronted by Grammy-winning artist, entrepreneur and philanthropist Ciara, highlights the supplement’s broader benefitsβ€”including enhanced cognitive function, endurance and overall performance.

In a sleek campaign spot, Ciara (who recently released her albumΒ CiCi) offers a glimpse into the mental and physical demands of her daily life, both on stage and as a mother. The message is clear: Creatine is no longer just the domain of the gym crowd, but a versatile tool for those striving for excellence across all areas of life.

How did you find out about the brand?

β€œFun fact: It was actually through my training team and our wellness team. They’ve been raving about Thorne for a long time. Thorne has essentially been my household for some time now, so it was pretty exciting when I got the phone call from them to be a part of this next campaign. It is good stuff.”

How do you use their products in your day-to-day?

β€œWhat I’m literally doing right now is taking the creatine powder and putting it in my apple juice; I love to do that. I’m a taste kind of girl. I love flavors, and I love when things taste good, so I like putting my creatine in my apple juice.”

I’ll have to try that. How are you with your wellness and your sleep schedules overall? Do you feel like you’re pretty good at keeping them solid?

β€œI definitely think I can get better…if I’m talking about being a perfectionist and just challenging myself to do everything I need to do to reach my peak performance level. I can say I am proud of the effort that I put into making sure I’m getting rest, and making sure I’m being mindful of my overall health and wellness, because I am growing by the day.

I don’t like to speak to the age factor in my life, but let’s just say I am β€˜re-evolving.’ I think that in order to evolve at the best level, I’ve got to be mindful of what I’m feeding myself, and rest is important. Health and wellness has pretty much become the top priority for me in my life.”

And how does self-care play into that?

β€œSelf-care is the best care for me. Firstly, self-care to me is making sure you’re doing things that you love, that feed your soul, that feed your mind, that feed your body. As I mentioned, it is the best care. I feel like when I get to spend time with myself, I’m better for the universe. That can be anything from watching shows that I love to making sure that I’m getting my hair washed or getting my nails done. Sometimes, I’m a little delayed in those areas, but I’ve got to make sure I stay on top of me so that I can be better for everyone else.”

Is there anything else that you do for wellness? Massages, fitness, skin care?

β€œYes, I love massages. I wish I could do them more in my life. I don’t get to get nearly as many massages as my husband does! I wish, I wish, I wish. It’s just that my schedule has me all over the place. Plus, being a mom, and then being there for him, and then work, time for Cece gets a little shorter, if I could say.

Like I said, getting your nails done, getting your hair done, getting a trim. Getting hair trims feels good! It’s so simple, but it’s a good refresher. Working out, I love training. My body can feel it when I haven’t trained for a while. I love that my body’s come to that place where it talks back to me, and I can feel the impact of when I am on track and just how significant it is when you get your blood flowing, and taking my vitamins.

All of those things, to me, are forms of good self-care. I would say, also, hanging out with my girls. I think that’s important. You need that time.”
