It’s ok to make the wrong decision
[ad_1]
Something happened last week that would have MORTIFIED Old Me.
I scheduled an email advertising a free workshop, and then BEFORE IT EVEN SENT, Iβd changed my mind π€·ββοΈ
In fact, Iβd forgotten about the scheduled email, until I had someone reply to sign up.

Old Meβs internal monologue would have been having a field day.Β
βWell then, you canβt change the plan, youβll look like an idiotβ.
Β βYou teach people how to make decisions and you canβt even decide what event to run!β.
βYou spent hours this morning creating the sign-up page, itβll be a total waste if you change the plan nowβ.
But hereβs something Mindful Me knows about decision making, that Old Me didnβt.Β
Itβs ok to get it wrong.Β
In fact, itβs better to make a decision and start moving forwards, than go around in circles and never go anywhere.
See I decided to run a workshop to share the 5 key principles to Switch-Off And Relax (or SOAR, as I prefer to say).Β
You know βThat Colleagueβ who doesnβt check her inbox once she leaves work at 5pm, and yet still gets everything done?
Well whether she realises it or not, sheβs using some or all of these principles.Β
And because these principles can be learnt, I decided to share them with people.

And as a result of that decision, I excitedly told a friend about the workshop and asked her HONEST opinion.Β
I was sure the content was life-changing (not said lightly) but did she think people would give up an hour of their evening to attend?Β
Especially people that were already stressed and without enough time.
She wasnβt sure they would.Β
βIβd attend in-personβ she said encouragingly.Β
I already know the power of in-person coaching, which is why I run Mindful Living Retreats (details here).Β
But I also know that not everyone can attend these.Β
I wanted something FREE and something accessible to anyone, regardless of location.Β
I told my friend Iβd been secretly wondering about doing it as a short podcast series.
βOH MY GOD I WOULD LOVE THATβ.
Now Iβve never done a podcast before. I know nothing about how to record them, on what platform, anything.Β
But within minutes of talking to my friend, I knew I had to do it.
People can listen whenever they want.Β
Whether thatβs on the way to work, at the gym, or doing the washing up.Β
Itβs simple, itβs bite-sized and itβs easy to re-listen to those golden nuggets that just make so much sense.Β Β
In that moment, it didnβt matter that Iβd done a load of work that would βgo to wasteβ.Β
That only matters if you think about it.Β
What matters is RIGHT NOW.

And then when someone signed up to the workshop, I just emailed back to explain the change.
In the present moment, we can deal with anything.Β
Itβs the voice in our head that says we canβt get it wrong, that weβve wasted time, that weβll look stupid; that’s what gets in the way.Β
And ironically, that fear of getting it wrong, means we never make a decision, and so never move forwards at all.
So two points to this blog today.Β
1. If you want to learn how to trust yourself to make decisions, and be ok when you make the wrong decision, it’s all in The Decision Making Guide; The UPGRADE, available here.
How to focus on the present moment , even if youβre planning something in the future.
Exactly how to allow yourself to make the wrong decision (yes thereβs a technique for that!).

An 8 minute EFT meditation to build your self-confidence around decision-making.
2. If you want to learn how to Switch-Off And Relax, you can sign up to my 5-day private podcast event here.
A 10-15 minute episode every day Monday 16th – Friday 19th July 2024?
That date already passed? Once you sign up, you’re free to binge listen to your heart’s content.
Thatβs it from me today folks.Β
I hope youβre having a wonderful day and this inspires you trust yourself to make more decisions – and if not, maybe you need that guide π
