Why Readers Say Wellness Is a Top Travel Priority

Gone are the days of squeezing in a quick workout at the hotel gym. In a recent survey of more than 500 NewBeauty readers,* movement and mindfulness emerged as essential components of the modern vacation. From beachside yoga to guided hikes in the mountains, travelers are seeking experiences that support both body and mind.

When asked which wellness offerings they prioritize while away, 35 percent of respondents said they participate in fitness and yoga classes, while nearly 12 percent seek out wellness consultations for personalized health insights. In fact, when asked which type of luxury travel is most appealing to them, an impressive 44 percent said spa retreats topped their list.

Destinations like Costa Rica, Banff, and Napa Valley topped the list for their wellness-focused appeal, offering everything from thermal springs and forest bathing to vineyard hikes and spa rituals. One respondent summed it up: β€œI’ve gained an interest in luxury destinations that focus on wellness through physical activity.” When it comes to amenities, readers ranked a quality fitness center and access to organic food as top prioritiesβ€”proof that wellness isn’t just about the setting, but the full experience.

This shift reflects a broader trend in luxury travel, where rejuvenation isn’t just about rest, but about resetting. Whether it’s a sunrise yoga session overlooking the ocean or a guided meditation in the mountains, travelers are curating itineraries that leave them feeling restored, rebalanced, and ready to return home transformed.
